Mary G. Furlong and Cheryl “Smitty” Smith, elementary Music teachers, combine their creative energies to integrate songs and stories into the core curriculum subjects, such as geography, science, and history.

Included in the Primary Grade performance are the original story songbooks: “Nile, Nile Crocodile,” a song about a mischievous crocodile who eats jeans, sneakers and even undies! There is an educational component about the Nile crocodile and the Nile River.

“5 Monkeys & Little Crocodile” is an interactive “songstory” that has an anti-bully theme, along with information about the Slender-Snouted Crocodile and the Vervet, Monkey (also called the Green Monkey).

“The Apple Twistin’ Song,” which teaches the proper way to pick apples so as not to harm the trees.

Available for grades 3, 4, and 5 is “Little Fido” a history of the Civil War through the eyes of Abraham Lincoln’s beloved dog. A resource book can be purchased prior to the visit, which includes writing prompts, Art tie-ins and much more.

Available for grades 4 through 6 is “Sylvia’s Story: The 1915 Chicago River Tragedy of the S.S. Eastland.” Common Core Aligned.
Books and CDs will be available for purchase.
